So here we are again, snowed in! I’m sorry that all my blogs seem to be about snow, but seriously people, we are in a snow apocalypse! Ha!
So who is ready for the super bowl?! I’m not usually a big fan of the NFL, but I just love watching the commercials. I’m going to be rooting for the Saints because they are obviously the underdogs. Plus one of my friends is a diehard Colts fan, so for his sake, I hope they lose.
So for this blog, I’m going to talk about my music that I LOVE to listen to. So right now, I’m listening to this song called “Ghosts ‘N Stuff” by Deadmau5. They are a techno band, and I absolutely love them. Here is a link if you interested in listening to the song; I strongly recommend it. It really just makes you want to dance.ghosts n stuff
Another song I like is Tik Tok by Ke$ha! Oh my gosh, this song will never get old. I don’t know how to explain her music, but I’m sure most of you have heard her song. I love it so much that it’s my ringtone! I would say that this song is techno, but it’s also has some characteristics of pop.
Another song that I’m in love with is Beat It by Michael Jackson. Actually, all of Michael Jackson’s songs are amazing. He is the master of Pop, and I miss him. Everyone gave him a hard time for the things that he may or may not have done, and I felt so bad for him. He was amazing.
Lady Gaga! Ahh, I love herrr! Her performance at the Grammys with Elton John was amazing! I don’t like her new CD as well as her old one, but now that she’s more popular she has a lot more pressure to make good music.
My two other favorite bands are Pendulum, and Owl City. I know they are two totally different sounds, but there is just something so calming about both of them. If you don’t know about Pendulum: they are a British band that is somewhat techno, but not as upbeat. Everyone pretty knows Owl City, but they are just like the Postal Service because they have the same main singer. I could listen to Owl City for the rest of my life and I would never ever get sick of them.
Also, I HATE Lil’ Wayne.

ReplyDelete1) I've heard Owl City is good. 2) I hate techo. 3) Lady Gaga is fascinating -- I think she is supposed to scare you -- she is post-modern -- a commentary on herself. Those of us who are intellectual/dorks are always talking about how Gaga is so "meta" - a performance artist as much as she is a pop-star. 4) After MJ died, I played "Beat it" for my son Hamza who is 3 (2, at the time), in the car. After the first time, he was like "I want MORE Beat It!!!" so I played it again...and he requested it again...and again...and again...and again... It was amazing. I've never seen anything like that. We listened to "Beat It" all the way to Christiansburg and back, non-stop. It's incredible that something about the power of that song could affect a 2-year old who didn't know that MJ had just died or have any context for understanding the song. 5) I'll check out Ke$ha -- I'd heard of her but your description intrigues me... Thanks for the recommendations.
