s-n-o-w: snow!

So I decided to write my blog while I’m snowed in. If you guys think this snow is bad, puh-leez. I love the snow, except for when it is more than a foot. But anyways, this semester is going great so far. I love most of my classes, and I’m not behind in any of them! I’m in multivariable calculus right now, and that’s probably my hardest class this semester. It’s basically linear algebra, vector geometry, and calculus put all into one. I’m also in engineering 1114, and it’s great because I already know how to use inventor so I don’t have to teach myself anything new! I am actually a certified mechanical drafter, which is a big accomplishment that I’m proud of. We had to take a 3 hour test that had almost 400 questions on it. In order to become certified you had to get a 75% on it, or better. I took three years of drafting in high school, so I’m pretty ahead in the aspect of the engineering class.
So while everyone else is going outside to play in the snow, I’m stuck inside doing homework. I have something to do in every single class, and it’s not fun. Hopefully there will still be snow tomorrow so I can go out and play! It has been so long since I have been sledding, for some reason it isn’t as fun as it used to be when I was a kid. It’s truly sad. I really want to go skiing, too. I went over Christmas break, and it was great. The weather was really cold, but it was still fun because I hadn’t gone skiing in about 3 years. I love skiing and I miss it a lot. I remember the first time I went skiing in New York, where I used to live. I was so miserable but that’s because I was only 5 or so. I was really good at it too, which made me want to do it even more! I don’t go skiing that much, but it’s like a riding a bike; you never forgot how to do it. I really hope I can go more this winter, because I miss it.
Until next time,
Melissa

Hola!

First Blog of the semester! Yay! Just want to start off by saying that I hope everyone had a great break, and I’m sorry you had to miss all the snow that Blacksburg got. I live in Blacksburg, so I was here and let me tell you: it was hell. First, I got stuck at my friends house, which isn’t that bad but I had things to do! Secondly, I get home and turns out my sister is lazy so I have to shovel the drive way by myself. This was hard too, considering that I’m not that strong. So after 5 long hours of shoveling, I get to pull my car into the drive way, only to find out that it has a flat tire! Ugh! So now, I’m seriously stuck because I couldn’t get to the tire because of all the damn snow, and plus I don’t know how to change a tire. Thirdly, my parents were out of town at the time when the storm hit, so I couldn’t ask my dad to change to tire. On top of that, the heat died while my parents were gone; so it was freezing in the house. AND the sink disposal also killed itself somehow. You know that little blade thing that chops stuff in the sink so you don’t have to put it in the trash, oh the garbage disposal. So, we had no sink, no heat, no car, and no friends! It was not the best time that I have had. Seriously people, 14 inches of snow! Blacksburg was not ready for this one. Luckily my parents came home a few days later and fixed everything. My dad is a real handy man. Oh, so my car: my dad filled up the tire enough for me to drive it over to the place to get it fixed. When I go to pick it up, guess what, there wasn’t a leak in the tire! I’m like flabbergasted because how can a tire be flat if there aren’t any holes in it?! Well turns out, the tire just slipped off the rim of the well which caused it to lose all its air. Who knew? Well that’s all the time I have today folks.
Until next time,
Melissa
